Stephen Sauer, M.D.

The journey to medicine for Stephen Sauer, MD started via the baseball field where he played throughout childhood, high school, college, and then five years professionally as a pitcher in the Chicago White Sox minor league system. When his athletic career ended, he finished his undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and after attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He then trained as an internal medicine physician at Citrus Florida Hospital in Inverness, Florida. During his time in residency, he led quality improvement projects, was active in leadership roles and community outreach, and was selected by his peers to represent the residency in quarterly division-wide forums.

Dr. Sauer is a follower of Jesus Christ and is an active member in his church. He married his high school sweetheart, Erica, who has been at his side throughout his athletic and academic careers. Together they have four daughters. Their leisure time is spent enjoying outdoor activities, attending sporting events, and visiting family.
