Family Medicine

Dr. Sean “Joey” Watson is joining Mountain Region Family Medicine this summer at the Press Building located at 444 Clinchfield St. Suite 2800 in downtown Kingsport, TN.

Dr. Watson grew up in Kingsport and plans to keep it as his lifelong home.  He received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Tennessee Tech University in 1997 and worked at Eastman Chemical Company for several years. Life and volunteer experiences led him to feel called to become a physician. He obtained a M.D. degree from the ETSU Quillen College of Medicine in 2014 where he participated in the Rural Primary Care Track program and was elected to the Gold Humanism and AOA medical honor societies.  In 2017, he completed Family Medicine residency training at ETSU Family Physicians of Bristol where he was selected to serve as chief resident and in his third year was awarded resident of the year.  He has certification by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Watson is thankful to join the other physicians at Mountain Region Family Medicine who have a well-deserved reputation for providing excellent and compassionate care. His hope is to take care of families and patients of all ages in the region that he loves.  He strongly believes in the preventative medicine approach to health care.  By promoting and maintaining health and well-being, he hopes to minimize disease and disability in his patients.  He lives in Kingsport with his beautiful wife and son. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and participating in outdoor and church activities.
