Ryan Hunley, DO grew up in Clarkrange, Tennessee, and attended Tennessee Technological University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science Biology. Seeing the need for physicians in the small town where he grew up, as well as wanting to make an impact in the world by providing care to patients, he decided to pursue medicine and attended Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He graduated from medical school in 2017 and completed his three-year medical residency at East Tennessee State University in Bristol. While training at ETSU, Dr. Hunley was elected chief resident during his final year of residency and was awarded resident of the year. He has certifications with the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. Dr. Hunley spent his first three years in practice in an underserved area in Arizona, where he was able to provide care to patients of all ages. While he enjoyed his time in the Southwest, he is happy to return home to be closer to his family and serve the Tri-Cities area. Dr. Hunley recognizes that everyone’s health goals are individual. He builds strong relationships with his patients in order to better understand and help his patients achieve those goals. Dr. Hunley supports personalized care where prevention, patient engagement, and shared decision-making are essential for the best outcomes for his patients. Dr. Hunley is married to his wife Kathleen, who is a high school science teacher. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, attending concerts, playing guitar and drums, watching movies, and playing chess.
