Family Medicine

Dr. Eric Harman has been practicing family medicine as an ABFM-certified physician since 2000.  He is originally from Maryland and a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park with a BS in Chemical Engineering but has lived in the Tri-Cities area almost continually since moving to Kingsport in 1992 to work briefly for Eastman Chemical Company.  He is a graduate of the ETSU College of Medicine and the ETSU College of Medicine Family Residency program in Kingsport.

Dr. Harman joined Mountain Region Family Medicine (MRFM) in Kingsport, TN, in 2002 and served as the practice board president from 2019 until the practice merged with SOFHA in 2021. During his time with Mountain Region Family Medicine, Dr Harman also served as MRFM’s IT Committee Chairman and was very involved in the practice’s efforts to improve population health and to participate in pay-for-performance programs including Qualable ACO.  Also, he has served with Highlands IPA COICC Committee for many years and is a member of the AAFP.

He is presently a member of the SOFHA Board of Governors, serves on several SOFHA committees and is the legacy MRFM Executive Committee chair. His daily work focuses on holistic evidence-based patient care with an emphasis on prevention. Previously participating in community theater in his spare time, he now enjoys traveling, outdoor sports, and being with his wife and three kids.
