Certified Nurse Midwife

OB/GYN

I was born in the small town of Hawesville, KY, on the Ohio River in Northwest Kentucky. My family moved to Gray, TN when I was a small child. I received my bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from King University. After graduation, I excitedly accepted a position as a Registered Nurse at the Family Birth Center at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. This was where my love for taking care of women grew as they allowed me to be part of one of the most important days of their lives.

The women and families I cared for over the years as a nurse made me realize I wanted more than just that brief time with them. I was tired of being the stranger that took care of them the few days at the hospital. I wanted to build a relationship to be able to care for them throughout their lifespan. Midwifery was my answer and a dream began to form.

I graduated from Frontier Nursing University with my master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) and received my credentials as a Certified Nurse Midwife. While completing my midwifery clinicals at State of Franklin OB/GYN Specialists I had the opportunity to care for many of the same women that I had provided care for during previous pregnancies and quickly realized that I made the right decision. This is where I gained experience with the group care model and absolutely loved the opportunity to be part of such a new concept of obstetrical care. The amount of education and support provided in the group care setting is invaluable to the prenatal experience.

I am passionate about empowering women to make informed decisions about their healthcare. I want to encourage women to have a voice while taking an active role in their healthcare. I am committed to providing evidence-based care and staying up to date with healthcare as it evolves. I consider it a blessing to be there through each and every aspect of their lives.

I have an amazing, supportive husband, Charlie, who encouraged me to fulfil my dream of becoming a midwife. Together we have four boys- AJ, Dakota, Cameron and David. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and attending the many extra-curricular activities our boys get into. My hobbies include reading, crafting, and traveling with my family. I am proud to be part of the only collaborative midwifery practice in the area and excited about the future of this much needed program. To say I am thrilled to continue my career here is an understatement; I truly believe God has placed me exactly where he wants me. I look forward to being able to care for the women of our region.
