Clinical Laboratory Services

Experience When You Need It.

State of Franklin Healthcare Reference Laboratory is a leader in clinical laboratory testing in East Tennessee. Conducting over 2.5 million tests every year, we utilize state-of-the-art instrumentation that includes automation technology, instrument redundancy and maximized throughput. Even with the high volume in tests, pride is meticulously taken to ensure the primary concern of the Reference Lab aligns with SOFHA’s philosophy – patient care first. Each specimen represents a patient, and all efforts are taken to ensure patient care is at the forefront of all we do.

In operation for over twenty years, our lab has direction and oversight provided by a pathologist. Lab Director Yasmin Elshenawy, MD, helps ensure the highest standard of excellence for our Reference Lab.

All testing personnel hold state licensure (MLT, MT). We utilize a comprehensive LIS with interfaces to SOFHA’s EMR as well as most national Reference Laboratories. This enables us to provide results to our patients and providers as efficiently as possible.

We hold a Reference Laboratory License from the State of Tennessee as well as a Moderate CLIA license governed by CMS. Our laboratory offers services in clinical chemistry, hematology, toxicology, endocrinology, urinalysis, general immunology, bacteriology, parasitology and virology. We provide lab services to our Providers, Home Visit Team, Specialty Clinics, Home Health Agencies and Wellness programs in the area.
