Experience when you need it.

State of Franklin Healthcare Reference Laboratory is a leader in clinical laboratory testing in East Tennessee. Conducting over 1 million tests every year, we specialize in moderate to high complexity level testing. Even with the high volume in tests, pride is meticulously taken to ensure the primary concern of the Reference Lab aligns with SoFHA’s philosophy – patient care first. Each specimen represents a patient, and all efforts are taken to ensure that philosophy. Patient care is at the forefront of what we do.

In operation for over ten years, the Reference Lab is home to only state licensed technologists. All tests are performed by experienced technologists.

This CLIA [Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments] licensed laboratory offers services in chemistry, microbiology, and hematology.  Our Special Chemistry department provides Vitamin D , PSA, thyroid, and hormone testing.  The lab conducts not only therapeutic drug testing but also standard drug screens.  We provide lab services to our Physicians, Specialty Clinics, Home Health agencies and Wellness programs in the area. Over the years, our Reference Lab has seen positive strides in growth with the addition of the Microbiology Department and molecular testing.

The Reference Lab is instrumental in assisting with diabetes management.  By utilizing our state-of-the-art HPLC [High-Performance Liquid Chromatography] analyzer, we are able to accurately test hemoglobin A1c. The lab routinely passes state and CLIA inspections.  Lab Director, Susan Rollins, MD, helps ensure the highest standard of excellence for the Reference Lab.
