Angela Sauerland Merrifield, MD is a Board Certified Family Practice physician. She has been providing comprehensive health care for people of all ages since joining FirstChoice Family Practice in 1996. After growing up in a small picturesque town in northern Germany, she attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville and East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine. Dr. Merrifield returned to her beloved Appalachian Mountains where she completed her Family Medicine Residency at East Tennessee State University. She maintains her member status at the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society, participates as an Influenza Sentinel Physician site for the Tennessee Department of Health and enjoys teaching medical students. When not working, Dr. Merrifield enjoys spending time with her daughters and hosting international students. She loves her ever changing menagerie of animals and her gardens on her mini-farm. She also has a passion for travel, both national and international.
